This year’s Business and Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRRC) Mary Robinson Speaker Series, titled “Raising the bar: Regulating corporate abuse,” will explore the new wave of regulation that seeks to end corporate impunity while empowering communities and workers in global supply chains. Kalpona Akter, an internationally recognized labour rights advocate, will be the keynote speaker. 

Kalpona Akter is an internationally recognized labour rights advocate who has spent her life fighting for fair wages, safe workplaces, freedom of association, and collective bargaining rights. She serves as the executive director of the Bangladesh Center for Worker Solidarity, one of Bangladesh’s key labour rights advocacy organizations. Oxfam has been partnering with Kalpona Akter since the early days of the ‘What She Makes’ campaign and hopes you will participate to hear her inspiring message.
